Hypertension and high blood pressure (HPB) mean the same exact things. In order to understand why hypertension can be a serious condition, one must first know what it means. When the heart pumps blood, blood is pushed against the arteries' walls, the combination of this being blood that is being "pushed" leads to the term "blood pressure.
