Onion Juice, The Cure For Alopecia

By
Alopecia areata, alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis are all forms of hair loss. It is a type of hair loss that is caused by an autoimmune disorder in the body. Alopecia areata affects patches of your scalp hair. Alopecia totalis will leave your whole scalp without any hair. Alopecia universalis will leave your whole body without hair. The doctors can't cure this. They often prescribe prednisone, an oral steroid that causes terrible side effects and stops working when you are not taking the medication. It is not a great solution at all.
There are many people online who promote the home remedy for alopecia areata of onion juice. This is fine. The idea is that the sulfur in the onion juice will cause a slight irritation and the immune system will work on that instead of attacking the hair follicles. In theory, it just may work.
Actually, there are studies that you can read online stating that this treatment is effective. I'm not entirely sure how valid these statements are or where the studies were actually done. My doctor didn't prescribe onion juice. It would have been nice if she had recommended something holistic instead of something that made me gain weight and give me insomnia.
I will admit that I tried rubbing a slice of onion on my head when I simply had alopecia areata. I did that for about a month. I did not see improvement at all. I have been trying acupuncture consistently for a year. I am finally seeing some fine, clear lashes and sparse underarm hair. I posted a video online regarding juicing and someone recommended the onion juice treatment, so now I am trying it again. Only this time, I will post my results for the internet community.
The juice of an onion may very well work for some people. It may be a placebo for others. It is also possible that onion juice had no relation because the condition can spontaneously reverse itself as well.
While I think that it could work, it seems to me like you would have to be continually using onion juice for it to have a long term effect. I can't imagine that rubbing something on your scalp is going to reverse an autoimmune disease. To reverse an autoimmune disease, you need to correct the underlying cause. Many medical doctors are aware that the immune system is out of order, but don't know exactly why. I'm not entirely certain that onion juice is going to reverse anything.
